CNSA Information

Hey nurses! Hope everyone is having a great summer so far! 😀

For the past 40 years CNSA has served as the voice of nursing students in Canada.Currently, CNSA consists of approximately 30,000 students attending 43 institutionsvacross Canada. McMaster’s Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is the second largest chapter of nursing students in Canada and your membership has been included as part of your student fees.

CNSA’s guiding principles and objectives are:
1. To be the primary resource for nursing students.
2. Influence and advance innovation in nursing curriculum and research.
3. Strengthening linkages and creating new partnerships.

CNSA collaborates with Canadian Nursing Association (CNA), Practical Nurses Canada, Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU), Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN), New Health Professionals Network (NHPN), Canadian Indigenous Nurses Association (CINA), and provincial unions to ensure nursing students are included in the forums that shape the future of our profession.

CNSA conferences are the best way to get involved in the conversation about the future of nursing, participate in skill building workshops, hear from educational speakers, and interact with present and future leaders in nursing. This year the Ontario-Quebec Regional Conference will be held from September 30th to October 2 nd by Ryerson University at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. Early bird registration is currently open with a discounted price of $85.00 for the conference events. To register for the Ontario-Quebec Regional Conference please visitwww.OQRC2016.ca/registration. National conference will be held in January by the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, further details will be announced at a later date.

Another great way to get involved in CNSA is to participate in your respective site’s National Nursing Student Week events that will be held November 14 th to 18 th . Your respective sites’ CNSA Official and Associate Delegates will be running various events throughout the week to celebrate nursing students. Events typically include guest speakers, fundraisers, and giveaway booths. Stay tuned to the McMaster University Nursing Student Society (MUNSS) website and social media pages for more information.

Finally, CNSA representatives for the McMaster University, Conestoga College, and Mohawk College sites will be running a bottle drive from August 1 st to November 1 st to raise money that will support students who will be attending conference. Save your empties and follow MUNSS’s website and social media pages for more information.
